The Ionic Bond Disc Model has to be tried to truly appreciated. To make that easier, we have a very low cost sample set of ions. This combination will allow you to make a number of combinations, show it to students as well as discussing and demonstrating many important concepts. And, of course, you can let the students play with them too.
The ions included include the following:
- One type I cation
- One type II cation
- One polyatomic ion
- Two nonmetal ions (probably halogens)
Note that the specific ions may vary from set to set. For example, the type I cation could be sodium ion or cesium ion.
